Abstract

This study is an attempt to analyze the link between regional disparities in unemployment and the migration policy in Switzerland. The Beveridge curve has been used by many economists in order to study some aspects of the rise of unemployment in Europe: mainly long-term unememployment and mismatchs. Our goal is different: we try to infer from different regional Beveridge curve some insights on the effect of the foreign workforce on regional unemployment. We are able to draw some conclusions following the various type of permits the swiss foreign workforce is submitted to.
